The Adventures of Shar'Atan pt. 2

I felt the cool evening wind in my face as I sat on the back of the big eagle. The druid could do some amazing tricks, afterall he was very usefull despite his cowardice. Leaving the walls of the not-so-rich-anymore city behind us, we flew north towards the city-which-name-I-have-forgot. After some hours in the sky we landed in a clearing in the forest. We made camp and the ninja and I got to sleep while the driud kept watch. Suddenly the druid kicked me hard in the side (as he use to do to wake people for some reason) and I drew my swords and looked around for sign of threats. The druid pointed into the darkness and said that there were someone or something there. All i saw was blackness. The ninja insisted that he also saw something, so he sneaked away. When he came back all he could say was that he had seen some lights floating in thin air. I thought that both he and the driud was seeing things. But when I borrowed the ninjas magical googles i could see that there were something over there, but since they didn't theaten us I didn't bother to pick a fight. So we slept thru the night with nothing more happening. When i woke in the morning the driud came with a deer he had hunted, so we got a tasty breakfast. We had a real cosy place there in the forest and I wouldn't have minded to stay there for one more night, but duty called. The druid talked about how he used to live in a forest like this, but that seemed just like insanity to me. Which sane person would want to live in the middle of the wilderness with no roof over their head and only the animals to keep you company? So we headed out on the road and walked northwards.

After some hours we walked by a farm. The door of the farmhouse had been torn open and none where to be seen. We searched the farmhouse and found a trapdoor to a cellar. We got down there and found a strange door. It was totaly black with a shining surface, it was hard as steel and couldn't be opened. There wasn't even a handle on it. The druid said he heard chanted wispering and got scared and tried to get out the fasted he could. The trapdoor closed in his face. Was we trapped in there or was it just the wind which had made it close? The druid tried to push it open without any problem. We got out of there quite fast and discussed what to do. The druid was convinced it must had been a powerfull evil wizard down there, but did for some reason not want to face him. But since we could figure out how to open the door we journeyed on.

A bit further ahead the road splitted in two. We stopped up for a moment discussing what way to take and if to fly up to get a better view when we suddenly heard a horse comming against us. We ran into the forest and hid. The rider stopped by where we was hiding and suddenly charged his horse right against my hiding place behind two bushes. I instantly drew my swords and prapared for the attack. He commanded me to lay down my weapons and come with him. I asked by what autority and he said that he was a paladin of "blablabla". Since it was a fellow servant of the law I put my weapons away and told him about our assignment. And it proved that we had a common cause, getting rid of the infestation of Eryth-null worshippers in the lands. More paladins arrived as we spoke. We told them about the house we had just searched and the strange door in the callar. They insisted we came with them to show them the door. It proved that this house had been inhabited by Eryth-null worshippers and that a wizard had gottan away when they had raided the house.

We arrived at the house and showed them the door. They asked us to step outside and take cover, while a dwarf came in with a string of some sort and a some stuff in a backpack. After some minutes he came out and also took cover. We lay there for several minutes while nothing happened, but then suddenly a deafening sound - kaboom! Everyone were moving there lips but i could hear nothing. I tried to ask the druid if he could hear what they were saying, but he just looked at me with a puzzeled look. I got up and walked towards where the house was, or had been. Now there was just a pile of rubble and splitered wood in a big crater. But the door was still standing. What was this door, it must be magical or something i thought. As people were gathering around the door I started to hear what people were saying again. Two haughty wizards came over and begun examining the door. Our druid asked what the writing on the door said and began writing on a paper and discussing with the ninja. I went over at the door and looked at it more closely. It didn't seem to be any way to open it, just as well to stand here and see what the smart-asses over there could figure out with all their big brains. But as i leaned at the door it suddenly opened and reaveled a blue fog-like inside. It certainly grabbed the wizards attention and the began casting spells and performing many wierd experiments, like throwing stone thru it. The wierd thing was that it didn't come out at the other side. The ninja and the druid was to cought up in trying to solve the puzzle to notice. After some time the druid handed to paper to one of the wizards and who read it alound: "Door to glory." Then suddenly the fog shifted and it revealed a firery chasm. "Its the seventh hell!" one of them screamed "no, its the plane of fire!" the otherone responded. So they began to argue. But none of them thought of looking at the other side. That side showed the top of a tower, like the one that belonged to Eryth-null, which we escaped some time ago. But none of the paladins were brave enough to enter, and just 3 people against maybe a whole bunch of Eryth-null followers would be bad odds, even for us.
So they somehow closed to portal. tore it loose and took it with them. Before we went on, we were warned about the danger ahead. There was a swamp with many nasty creatures and even a black dragon which used to hunt there!

After sleeping over at the paladins encampment we went on and arrived at a small village at afternoon. The ninja and I came riding on the druid, who was a horse for the moment. It seemed they were preparing for war. They were building a palisade and had barred their windows and they all looked very nervous. I asked at the inn and the innkeeper told me that they were suffering from goblin attacks and that they had raided the city each week lately. I said that we could propably help them with the gobling problem if he could tell me where they had their lair. I asked the rest of the group and they too were up for some goblin killing!
